Two members of the New Mexico Army National Guard received an award from Christ Hospital in Cincinnati recently for saving the life of a man hurt in a car crash. According to a recent service news release, Spc. Roberto Sandoval and Pfc. RaeJean Lucero, both combat medics, received the hospital’s "Lifesaver Award" on May 16 in the presence of 200 organizational leaders. Sandoval and Lucero, both participants in the Strategic Medical Asset Readiness Training, or SMART, program out of the hospital, jumped into action after being notified by a woman of a motor vehicle accident that had just taken place. The two guardsmen rushed to the scene and found a man unconscious. They proceeded to perform CPR on him until emergency responders arrived. Read more at Army.mil.
