Fort Bliss is the home of the Air Defense Artillery Center of Excellence and is responsible for air defense artillery training of U.S. soldiers and various allied nation soldiers. It also the home of seven Forces Command warfighting units - the 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade, the 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, the 204th MI Battalion, and the 978th Military Police Company.
With 1.1 million acres, this post is bigger than the state of Rhode Island and can accommodate every weapon system in the Army. Excellent ranges and training area, coupled with the third longest runway in the nation, make Fort Bliss a premiere facility for training, mobilization and deploying combat forces.

Welcome to Fort Bliss
1. Established in 1848, Fort Bliss is one of the oldest Army posts in the United States and is currently celebrating 150 years of military service.
2. Over its distinguished history, Fort Bliss has served as an infantry post, a cavalry post, and today serves as the premier Air Defense Center of Excellence, leading the way into the 21st century. Fort Bliss is home to the 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command, and the 6th, 11th, 31st, 35th, and 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigades. It is also home to the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, and Joint Task Force Six.
3. Fort Bliss is located in the largest American City on a U.S. international border, contributing over $1 billion annually to the regional economy. The partnership between Fort Bliss and El Paso has existed since the first soldiers arrived here in 1848, and remains strong today.

If you find you have some free time and would be interested in helping other military families as a Community Services volunteer, please call us and we will be happy to help you locate a volunteer position that is right for you. We provide free child care for Community Services volunteers.
