President Obama will present the Medal of Honor to 24 Army veterans or members of their family in a ceremony at the White House Tuesday.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis ("Forrest Gump") and Oscar-winning documentarian James Moll ("The Last Days") have joined forces to create "Medal of Honor," a new series that profiles eight men who received the Medal of Honor in recognition of their heroism in combat.

Check out the trailer below.

The series will be available on Friday, November 9th, for Veterans Day weekend.

Fewer than 3600 American warfighters have been recongnized since President Lincoln signed the bill that created the Medal of Honor in 1861. That's an elite group of heroes, but it's also a large enough group so that this series could run for decades if viewers decide to watch.

The series combines archival footage, dramatic recreations and interviews with both family members and fellow warfighters to tell each man's unique story.

Zemeckis is excited with the result. “James Moll is a talented storyteller and we were looking for just the right project to work with him on. "Medal of Honor" is the ideal collaboration for us. James’ documentary skills combined with our live action techniques bring to a compelling light the important recognition of these brave individuals,” says Zemeckis. “We can not think of a better way to give back to the military community than by telling these incredibly heroic true stories.”
